TF skins can be manufactured to a variety of sizes to fit specific spaces. However to ensure that the skins are lightweight for ease of installation and handling we would recommend panels no greater in size than 2500x1300mm Skins are 10-15mm thick – though they can also be thicker if required.
16-25kg/m2
TF skins are manufactured with a substrate layer of Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) that is high in tensile strength, therefore reducing the overall thickness and applied loads on the building structure.
The GRC layer gives stability in case of impact.
The surface of the concrete is treated with a stain resistant finish. The sealant contains organic solvents and is free of chlorinated hydrocarbons.
The finished surface can be maintained regularly by light vacuuming removing surface dust. TF skins can be retreated with a clear sealant at a frequency that depends on the occupancy of the space.
The textiles used have been specially selected, designed and tested to survive in the alkaline environment of concrete
Light fast dyes are used in the production of the textiles but under direct exposure of sunlight, fading may occur.
There is no steel reinforcement used in the production of the panels, hence no possible future staining of the surface can occur due to sulphate attack.
In their use, TF concrete skins when integrated into other precast concrete elements offer the opportunity to expose the surface of the concrete mass for thermal mass whilst still maintaining a strong visual effect. TF concrete skins also offer a positive acoustic profile for users.
In their manufacture TF produce as little as possible waste.
TF skins have a low embodied energy. The production of the concrete uses, where possible, locally sourced materials reducing the amount of carbon emissions during transportation. The selective policy of using suitable raw materials lowers energy costs over the lifecycle of the product.
We also believe that by making concrete more user friendly that it has a greater value and hence longer life space
TF offers an integrated high quality finished surface that enhances the acoustic performance of space.
TF skins can be installed in a variety of ways either by using a flexible bonding agent or by mechanical means (2-5mm tolerance), dependent on the substructure and/or site context.
Please contact the TF technical team for more information, samples and design assistance.
TF skins must be stored flat on pallets, inside and under cover, in dry conditions, and protected from the weather and other trades.
